Community
Radio is such a mass communication media through which any type of development
message can be reached easily. At the same time, it can be effective for
education and skill development. This will be effective for developing the
living standard of the disadvantaged community. Mr.Jyoti Gomez; treasurer of
CAMPE has shared his concerns and feelings when he attended as chief guest of
the closing session of the opinion sharing meeting.
An
opinion sharing and forward planning meeting was held on 17 June 2012 at YWCA
Auditorium, Dhaka on the theme: role of community radio in education and skill
development.
The
meeting was jointly organized by Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) and Bangladesh
NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) under the financial support of
SDC.
Mr.
Tapan Kumar Das, Program Manager, CAMPE presided over the meeting. Mr.AHM
Bazlur Rahman, CEO, BNNRC facilitated the session. The key participants
included representatives from 14 CR stations and representatives from CAMPE, UNESCO
& SCF
The
program was started with welcome speech from Mr.Tapan Kumar Das. Mr.Bazlu gave
a presentation on the current status of community radio stations and their
broadcasting programs. Besides, Mr. Kamrul Hasan Monju and UNESCO
representative also discussed on the situation
The
CR representatives shared their experiences in broadcasting educational
programs through community radios. After presentation from CR stations, CAMPE
shared their opinion on how to utilize community radio as an opportunity to
promote education and life-skill more
.It was decided that program will be developed to achieve this objective and a
primary plan has been chalked out by ensuring participation from different
child clubs, listeners clubs and other stakeholders'groups.It was expected that
organizations like UNESCO, CAMPE SDC will come up and join in the process.
