Mr. Kazi Akhtaruddin Ahmed, Director
General of Bangladesh Betar(Radio) and Chairperson, Community Radio related
Central Monitoring Committee visited
Krishi Radio 98.8 and LokoBetar 99.2 Community Radio stations at Barguna on 6th
July.
He was accompanied by Mr. Dulal
Kumar Pal, Chief Engineer, Mr. Narayan Chandra Shil,Director(News), Mr. Salahuddin
Ahmed, Director(Program), & Abdul Haque, Regional Director, of Bangladesh
Betar, Barisal , and Mr. AHM Bazlur
Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and
Communication(BNNRC).
During his visit in Lokobetar community
radio station Mr. Ahmed expressed his satisfaction to see the level of local
community engagement in programming of the station. He emphasized on importance
of participation of different professional groups of the society in radio
performance. Mr.Manir Hossain Kamal, Station Manager, LokoBetar, Mr. Tarek
Mahmud,Central Coordinator, MMC, technical persons, volunteers ,local
journalists , Mr. Mohammad Ali,Additional District Commissioner, Barguna and
Mr. Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman,Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Barguna Sadar were also
present during the visit.
During his visit in Krishi Radio
98.8 at Amtoli, he appreciated the technical arrangement and station set up,
also the sincere efforts of officials and volunteers in program operation.
During a brief discussion with them he focused on the sustainability aspect of
the Radio station.
He also participated in an
interview with Krishi Radio Station Manager, which was recorded for
broadcasting. Mr.Rahman Abdullah, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Amtoli, Sharif
Iqbal, Station Manager, Krishi Radio,Shamim Mridha,Program Producer,Sayedur
Rahman,Broadcaster,Zakir Khan, Script Writer,Shahnaj Parveen,Community Radio
Correspondent and Mr.Saifuddin Sabuj, consultant of FAO were present during the
visit.
At Morning on the same day,
Mr.Kazi Akhtaruddin Ahmed met on a discussion session with local dignitaries
and Radio Professionals, which was organized at Circuit House, Barisal.
Mr.SM Arif-ur-Rahman, District
Commissioner of Barisal, local eminent journalist Mr. SM Iqbal and Hossain
Chowdhury, local politician participated in the discussion. During discussion
Mr.Ahmed informed of introducing FM Band of Bangladesh Betar (Barisal region) very soon.
He also joined in another
dialogue with Radio Correspondents, performers and Artists where local elites
and dignified citizens like Mintu Basu (drama personality), Kazi Maqbul
(journalist) attended.
Later he visited Regional Center
of Bangladesh Betar at Barisal
and met with officials and staffs of the Center. He assured them to take
immediate steps to get the center saved from the risk of inundation every
year.
